World Book Night 23rd April 2020: Reading Together While Apart
This year World Book Night coincides with several other celebrations: Shakespeare’s Birthday and the BBC’s ‘Big Night In’ event. So why not make a night of it; get the family together and enjoy a bit of culture. The TCC Stay-cation Book Clubs for staff and students would like to invite you to join us – remotely – in a bedtime read from 7pm to 8pm on Thursday evening. Reading together or alone, put your feet up and escape into a favourite book for an hour. For the more competitive families, students and staff have created a Big Family Book Quiz which you can download from the
school website. Let’s see who the more knowledgeable readers are: parents or children? Or, if you prefer drama, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre are both sharing amazing performances of their latest productions, Romeo and Juliet and Twelfth Night, on Youtube. We hope you will join in with some of these activities and the main World Book Night event (www.worldbooknight.org) which offers free audiobook downloads and other interactive features on their website. The Tavistock school website also has a range of resources to support reading at home, including reading lists for each year group and guidance about free online books / audio books.
Good luck, everyone, and keep reading!
