A Level success opens doors for our young people

Students at Tavistock College are looking ahead to the future after achieving a strong set of A Level results and securing places at universities, apprenticeships and employment opportunities across the country.

This year's cohort will now progress to a wide range of destinations, including the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University Durham and Apprenticeships such as British Car Auctions.

Overall, 72% of A level grades were awarded at A*-C, with 30% achieving A*-A grades. Level 3 BTEC results also demonstrated strong performances in Travel and Tourism and Creative Media.

The College also recorded particularly strong outcomes in Physics, Chemistry, Extended Project Quality and English Literature.

These results reflect the hard work and determination shown by students throughout their studies, alongside the support of staff, families and the wider school community.

Among this year's achievements: 

  • Matthew Wimlett, who successfully achieved 4 A*s in Further Maths, Maths, History, Physics and has secured his place to study Physics at the University of Oxford
  • Evelyn Quinn who successfully achieved 3 A*s in Art & Design, English Literature and History. Evelyn also secured an A in the Extended Project Qualification and has secured her place to study History of Art at the University of Manchester
  • Joe Avent who successfully achieved 3 A*s in Chemistry, Maths and Physics and has secured his place to study Medicine at the University of Cambridge
  • Tal Pearson who successfully achieved 2 Distinction *s, an A in Film Studies and a C in English Literature and has secured his place to study at Met Film Manchester to study Film Production
  • Jordyn Perkins, who successfully achieved 2 A*s in Biology & Chemistry and an A in Maths and has secured their place to study Biology at the University of Oxford
  • Bethan Godfrey who successfully achieved 1 Distinction *, 1 Distinction an A in Art & Design and has secured her place to study Music at Leeds Conservatoire
  • Oliver Houlberg who successfully achieved 2 A*s in Maths and Physics and an A in Chemistry and has secured his place to study medicine at the University of Birmingham
  • Alrlo Parsons who successfully achieved 2 A*s in English Literature and the Extended Project Qualification, and 2 As in History and Politics. Arlo has secured his place to study History at the University of Oxford

Collecting his A Level results today, Ollie Houlberg said:
