Tuesday 12 May 2026 Chemistry Students Continue to Shine at Tavistock College It has been another hugely successful year for Chemistry students at Tavistock College with Year 13 students once again performing exceptionally well in the prestigious National Chemistry Olympiad. All year 13 students entered and gained top awards, with 3 students achieving a Gold award and 2 students achieving a Silver award. Over 17k students took part in the challenge this year and this puts the Tavistock College year 13s in the top 8.5% (Gold) and top 25.7% (Silver). This is now 3 consecutive years of Tavistock College students achieving outstanding results in this highly competitive challenge. Over a 3 year period, 50% of A-level Chemistry students are returning with Gold awards while all students are consistently gaining a certificated award. Friday 1 May 2026 BBC Studios Visit Our students from Years 9, 10 and 12 enjoyed a vibrant and inspiring day out at BBC Studios, accompanied by Mr. Mike Baker our school Governor and also a Marjon University Media lecturer. With the sun shining, the group stepped straight into the world of professional broadcasting and journalism.

Thursday 30 April 2026 6F Collapsed Curriculum Day Apr26 On Wednesday 2 April, all of Year 12 took part in a collapsed curriculum day designed to support both their academic progress and wider personal development. Wednesday 1 April 2026 Dockyards trip March 2026 The Dockyards Visit 2026 was an inspiring and hands‑on experience for the eleven students from Years 10 to 13 who travelled to the Devonport Naval Base to spend the day with 47 Commando. From the moment we arrived, the Royal Navy team made the group feel welcome and engaged, offering insightful introductions to their work and the vital role they play. Students were able to see a range of small naval vessels up close and had the unique opportunity to board and explore various landing craft and RIBs, gaining an authentic sense of their operational purpose and how they are used in real maritime scenarios.

Tuesday 24 March 2026 Under 13 Girls Shine at County Football Finals The Under 13s girls football team represented Tavistock College with pride at the County Finals in Newton Abbot, following an impressive qualifying-round victory over Kingsbridge. Their win secured them a place among the top eight schools in Devon—already a remarkable achievement.
