Last week, our Year 11 and Year 12 students had an incredible opportunity to hear from Babcock International, one of the UK’s leading engineering and support services companies. The session opened doors to the world of apprenticeships at Devonport Dockyard, showcasing the exciting career pathways available right here in our region.

Students discovered the wide range of apprenticeships on offer—32 in total—covering areas such as engineering, quality assurance, data analytics, finance, procurement and supply, HGV driver, and health physics monitoring, to name just a few.

A real highlight was hearing from a former student of our school, now thriving as a Babcock apprentice. Their story was a powerful reminder that with ambition and the right opportunities, our students can achieve amazing things.

Babcock’s team shared how their apprenticeships go beyond the norm—providing hands-on experience, expert training, and the tools to succeed in a competitive industry. These sessions are about more than careers; they’re about inspiring confidence, ambition, and a sense of belonging in the world of work.
