Babcock: Year 12 Higher Level Engineering experience of the workplace
Exciting new engineering-based experience of the workplace taking place at Devonport Royal Dockyard during summer 2026, created exclusively for current Year 12 students with an interest in engineering, STEM, or technical careers.
This unique opportunity will allow students to step inside one of the UK’s largest and most complex engineering environments, where cutting-edge technology meets real-world problem solving. Throughout the experience, students will explore a range of engineering disciplines, see how engineering supports major national infrastructure, and discover how classroom learning translates into impactful careers.
Participants will:
- Gain hands-on insight into real engineering workplaces
- Develop key employability and professional skills
- Learn about apprenticeship, graduate, and alternative engineering pathways
- Build confidence, motivation, and career clarity before making post‑18 decisions
When: Monday 10 to Friday 14 August 2026
Times: Monday to Thursday 09:00 – 15:30 and Friday 09:00 – 13:00 (all applicants must be able to attend the full week)
Where: Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth, PL1 4SG
Who can apply: Any student currently in Year 12 and will be going into Year 13 in September 2026
