Year 13 Graduation Celebrated at St Eustachius Church
Year 13 students marked the end of their sixth form journey with a memorable graduation ceremony at St Eustachius Church in Tavistock on Thursday afternoon, 25 June. The special event brought together students, families and friends to celebrate achievements and reflect on their time at the College.
Reverend Godfrey welcomed everyone to church in the opening address. Graduates were then formally presented with their certificates, and a number of students received subject awards in recognition of individual excellence, presented by their teachers. Guest of honour, Vice Principal Mr Barry Palmer, delivered an inspiring address, encouraging students to carry forward the values of kindness, resilience and a willingness to seize every opportunity as they move on to the next stage of their lives.
A particularly moving moment of the ceremony was the tribute to Mr James Stroud, a much-loved Head of Sixth Form and outstanding teacher. Speakers paid heartfelt tribute to his impact on the college community, and the newly established James Stroud “Legend” Award was introduced. This award recognises students who not only work hard but also bring joy and positivity to those around them.
Head Students Eva and Seth shared warm reflections and memories of their time in sixth form, capturing the spirit and friendships of the cohort. The college’s talented musicians, under the direction of music teacher Joe Lambert, performed a special musical tribute to Mr Stroud, adding a poignant and uplifting note to the celebration.
The festivities continued into the evening, with students attending their prom at The Treasury in Plymouth. As they look ahead, members of the cohort are moving on to a wide range of destinations. Many have secured places at their first-choice universities, including four students heading to Oxbridge, three students for medicine and one with a place at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), while others are pursuing places at medical school, apprenticeships, entering employment, or taking gap years to work and travel.
The College community wishes all students every success as they await their exam results in August and embark on the next exciting chapter of their lives.
