At Tavistock College Sixth Form, we are committed to preparing every student for life beyond post-16 education — whether that’s university, an apprenticeship, employment, or further training. Our careers and progression support is personalised, forward-thinking, and rooted in real opportunities. 

Personalised Careers Guidance

All students have access to one-to-one careers appointments with our qualified Careers Advisor. These sessions support students in identifying their strengths, exploring different sectors, and mapping out the steps needed to reach their career goals. We offer CV workshops, interview preparation, and networking opportunities with local employers and training providers.

Unifrog: Universal Destination Platform

Every Sixth Form student has an account with access to the online platform UNIFROG. This supports students with their post-18 options and pathways through comparing university courses, apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships, and further education (FE) courses worldwide. It also supports students in applying for these opportunities, including writing personal statements and applications, and allows them to record their accomplishments and skills as they progress through year 12 and into year 13.  

UCAS and University Applications

Our experienced Sixth Form team guides students through every stage of the UCAS process, including Early Entry, from researching courses and writing personal statements to submitting applications and preparing for university life. Students also take part in workshops and information evenings that involve parents and carers, helping ensure everyone is well-informed and supported. We maintain strong relationships with a range of universities and attend national higher education events.

Apprenticeship and Employment Pathways

We recognise that university isn’t the right route for everyone. That’s why we also provide high-quality support for students interested in apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships or direct employment. Our students benefit from mock interviews, application support, and employer talks. We also link students with local and national apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of industries.

At Tavistock College Sixth Form, careers education is integrated throughout the curriculum and tutor programme. We aim to build ambition, raise aspirations, and equip every student with the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
