Tavistock College Year 7 Ambassadors put the fun back into fundraising for Red Nose Day on Friday 13th March. Year 7 were given the thumbs up by Principal, Mrs Salmon to all of their fundraising ideas.
They spent the weeks leading up to Red Nose Day arranging a cake and book sale in the Concourse during break and lunch time. They asked their fellow Year 7 students to donate cakes, cupcakes and cookies and unwanted books. This was a huge success and the delicious donations were snapped up in 20 minutes!
In addition to the cake and book sale they arranged a ‘Run a Mile’ lesson in PE on Thursday 12th March. All Year 7 students ran or walked a mile and donated what they could. They combined the total of miles they ran and amazingly, in one hour this took them all the way to Scotland!
To maximise donations they also arranged a whole school mufti day which is always a huge hit with students and staff.
All their hard work paid off and they were delighted to donate £1338.96 to Comic Relief. As the Government match every penny Tavistock College donated, this means their final fundraising figure was a whopping £2677.92.
