On Friday 27th February 2015 the Tavistock College PE Faculty took the Year 12 Public Service students to the Crownhill Fire Station where they were involved in a question and answer session followed by a tour of the station and the equipment. The 12 students involved were then kitted up ready for their next part of the trip, which involved moving to Camels Head Fire Station.
The group were split into small groups to embark on a team building/leadership task that took them right outside of their comfort zones! Before entering the blackout building the students were taught specific search techniques, safe ways to move around a dark building and the correct method to travel through a tunnel.
After the exercise the student received great feedback and advice from the fireman. The trip was a great success and put the students through their paces as well as giving them an insight into the Fire Service. The students were a credit to the College.
