Year 9 Rounders Team

Year 7 and 8 rounders tournament

Posted: 5 June 2015

The year 7 and 8’s had their first rounders tournament at Okehampton yesterday playing against schools in the West Devon league.

Year 7 Team
The year 7 team participated in a round robin tournament against Kingsbridge, Ivybridge and Okehampton. They started off strong, with a win of 9 ½ to 2 ½ against Ivybridge. The second match was a little tougher, with both teams producing lots of catches and good hits, and ended in a tie of 5 each. The final game was against Okehampton, who showed a very organised fielding team, which proved difficult for our year 7’s. The final result was 10 ½ to Okehampton, 6 to Tavistock. The girls worked really hard throughout the day and fully deserved their silver medals for finishing second. Well done!

Year 8 team

The year 8 team were in good spirits in the lead up to their first West Devon tournament at Okehampton. The team played in a round robin tournament against Okehampton B, Ivybridge B, Kingsbridge A and Okehampton D. Due to the strong batting game of the opposition, Tavistock A lost their first three games, but learnt from their loses to pull it back in the fourth game beating Okehampton 5-3. In the final knock out game, a close game was played with Tavistock narrowly missing out on a victory; the final score Okehampton C 4 1/2, Tavistock A 3. The team are looking to develop their batting game in training before their next fixture on 23rd June at Liskeard.
