Under 13’s Girls Football

Posted: 13 October 2015

The year 7 girls played in their first football fixture on Monday 12th October against an experienced Plymstock School side. The girls had not played together as a team before but came into the match with an enthusiastic approach.

Plymstock made a strong start, dominating the game with their county striker scoring a number of times with Tavistock responding by tightening up their defensive play. Changes in positions were made at half time; the score standing at 9-nil to Plymstock. With 3 alterations in the Tavistock team, the girls kept their resolve and put the Plymstock team under a great amount of pressure, getting 2 goals back. The final score was Plymstock School 16-2 Tavistock College.

Well done to all of the girls who took part.

Geography News

Posted: 7 October 2015

On Monday 16th November Martin Dawes will be in talking with A level geography students about their Pollution and Human Health at Risk unit.

Martin is a well known BBC News Correspondent and UN representative, who now works in London with a network of organisations in the aid sector dedicated to reform. The reform is to try to make sure there is full two way communication with disaster affected communities as this makes them stronger and creates more effective responses.

Ebola was a case where this lesson had again to be learned – but paid dividends.

This is an incredible opportunity for the students to engage a professional who has first hand experience of the impact of Ebola on the demographics and infrastructure of West Africa.
